Eats Beat: Thai, sushi, pho combine in Hudson Oaks
Fort Worth’s first family of Thai restaurants is growing west.
Blu Jasmine Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar, the fourth location from a family known for Thai cooking, is open in the Shops at Hudson Oaks, a growing shopping area awaiting the arrival of an H-E-B grocery.
Blu Jasmine is the first of the Thanpaisarnsamut family’s restaurants to include a sushi bar. A simple spicy tuna roll came out extra-special this week, so it’s off to a good start.
The regular menu is similiar to Spice Thai, Thai Select and Thailicious, all family restaurants that sprang from the original Thai Rice ’n’ Noodle on Camp Bowie Boulevard West.
The vast list of specials includes duck with basil and peppers (“ga prow” or “kra prow”), salmon topped with panang curry, a Thai-style rib-eye steak or a seafood combination in green curry.
Regular items include the familiar spicy basil chicken, beef or pork “kra prow,” curries, pad Thai, salads and a choice of either Thai soups or Vietnamese pho.
Lunches cost about $10, dinners $11 and up. A longer-than-usual list of desserts includes coconut ice cream.
Blu Jasmine is open for lunch and dinner daily at 100 S. Oakridge Drive, No. 135, south of U.S. 180 behind a McDonald’s. Delivery is free within three miles, $3 up to five miles. 817-599-3303, blujasmine.com.
